本文為充實本省草莓育種研究之參考資料，以利育成適應本省氣候條件之草莓新品種，加速草莓生產事業之發展為目的。搜集範圈包括國內外文獻，舉凡草莓之來歷、育種歷史、育種目標、世界主要草莓國家之育種與成就、育種技術、育種系統、草莓植株及果實特性之育種等加以整理歸類，以供本省今後草莓育種工作之參考。

In the hope to breed new varieties which will adapt the climatic condition in order to extend the strawberry enterprise in Taiwan, we have collected a large number of foreign papers. The review of literatures is to enrich the referance in strawberry breeding. It consists of the origin of strawberry, history of strawberry improvement, modern breeding objectives. breeding and achievements in the major producing countries, breeding techniques, breeding systems, breeding of specific plant characters and breeding of specific fruit characters.
