Mature plants of Japanese bunching onion were grown under 5° and 10°C in order to induce flower initiation. Results showed that the longer periods in low temperature, the shorter in number of days to bolting after treatment; while when plants grew more than 20 days in low temperature, the periods to bolting i3 increased due to longer periods of plants in low temperature. Number of days after treatment to bolting as well as total number of days from beginning of treatmen t to bolting are increased when plant grew more than 35 days in 5℃. Number of days after treatment to bolting decreased when plants grew longer periods in 10℃. Increasing number of days in low temperature also resulted in higher percentage and more uniformity in bolting. |
