Studies were conducted on the effect of chemical treatments and infloresecnce pinching on the regulation of flowering date and fruit setting of Irwin mango (Mangifera indica L.), in which Ethrel, Alar and GA₃ were applied separately at 15 days interval. Results are summarized as follows: 1. Bloom period was proceeded two weeks earlier by Ethrel (250 ppm) treatment and one week earlier of the Alar (4,000 ppm). But it was delayed five weeks in GA₃ 50 ppm treatment. 2. Owing to climate conditions, no significant difference of fruit set between treatments was found. 3. Panicles were elongated by treatment of GA₃ (50 ppm); but shortened by Alar (4,OOO ppm) treatment even the number of pistillate flower was increased. 4. No effect of Agriblum spraying was found. 5. Blooming showed again while the inflorescence was removed and no effectiveness on fruit setting was recorded. |
