Fruits in crossing between bunching onion and onion could develop normally or ceased its development at 8 to 12 days after pollination. There are fewer embryo and endosperm cells in ceased developed fruit than normal. Rate of cell division and number of embryo and endosperm cells in normal development of crossed seed were slower in comparison with those in selfed seed. The percentage fertilization of reciprocal crossings between bunching onion and onion was different. The hybrid embryo of bunching onion crossed to onion could develop into plant by embryo culture when embryo was over 12 days older. |
