In 1980 and 1981, onion cultivar of Tainan No. 1 were stored in 9℃ for 0, 4, 8, and 12 weeks in order to study the effect of low temperature on flowering of the plants. Results showed that bulbs stored longer period in 9℃ could increase the bolting percentage, number of flower stalks and ratio of flower stalk number to bulb division number, but days to bolting and total number of flowers per plant were decreased. The days from bolting to first flower open was not significantly affected by the time in low temperature storage. |
