The economic efficiency of calamondin is greatly affected by the supply of fruit. In order to increase the farmers'income, pruning methods that adjust the harvest seasons of calamondin must be studied. To provide information for farmers to follow, the responses of calamondin in harvest season and yield to three different pruning times were studied in this research. The experiment had a completely randomized design with three replications. The three pruning treatments each took place on September I, October I, and November I. Plants that were not pruned were used as control. All of the fruits were removed for the treated plants, and the vegetative branches were pruned. The results showed that all of the treated plants bloomed within one month after pruning. The full harvest seasons were in March, April, and May when pruned in September, October. and November, respectively. A lower total yield was found for plants pruned in September compared to the other two treatments and the control. However, no total yield differences were found among plants treated in October, November and the control. The fruit production in spring of all three kinds of pruned plants was more than 143.5% higher than that of the control. Best economic ben語ts were obtained from the pruning treatment in November followed by the pruning treatment in September and October. Plants without pruning treatment had the lowest economic benefits when compared to the pruning treated plants. |
