A coremioid Pleurotus fungus found in Taiwan has been tentatively identified as Pleurotus cystidiosus Miller. This fungus is characterized by eccentric stipe, complete absence of veil, presence of 4-spored basidia, white spore print, oblong-elliptical basidiospore (11 〜17x4.0〜5.5μ in size), coremia with black head on dikaryotic hypha, yellowish broun dikaryotic conidia resulting from the breking up of the free ends of coremia in basipetal fashion (conidia 9〜24.5x4.6〜7.8μ in size), single binucleate round conidia borne singly at the tips of small conidiophore, (conidia 2.6〜4.0μ in diameter) and complete absence of chlamydospore. |
