Introduction of black rot resistance was carried out by transferring total genomic DNA from black rot resistance variety PI281552 into the edible 'KY cross' cabbage via pollen tube gene transfer method. Among 237 individuals evaluated by cut-leaf inoculation, 56 showed resistant to black rot. Some of these resistant plants with the phenotype of 'KY cross' can be used as materials for further breeding. Furthermore, random amplified polymorphic DNA markers were found useful to distinguish the difference between parents and transgenic progeny. |
