Corms of Curcuma alismatifolia are planted in 2.5-liter pots monthly, between March 1995 and August 1995, to investigate the effect of planting dates on flowering time and yield of stalks and corms. The results show that the bud burst date of corms accelerate as planting dates are postponed, but early planting still resulted in early flowering. Corms, planted on the 15 of March, April, May, June, July and August 1995, started to flower on 5 July, 15August, 3 September, 5 October, 6 November and 27 November 1995, respectively. However, all treatments, except July and August planting, stopped flowering between 19 October and 7 November 1995. The yield of flower stalks for each monthly planting date, from March to August 1995, was 3.66, 2.59, 1.43, 1.26, 0.64, and 0.06 stalks per clustered corm, respectively. The yield of daughter corms for each planting date was 5.2, 5.19, 4.42, 3.14, 2.26, and 1.68 corms per clustered corm, respectively. |
