日本「近代的超克」的思想和戰時下臺灣知識份子的諸相

The Thought of Japanese [Overcoming Modernity] and the Various Aspects of Wartime Taiwanese Intellectuals

可以說「現代性」原先並不屬於東亞。台灣在認識「現代性」的時候，已經成為日本的殖民地。從1910年代開始，台灣知識份子以「六三法」的廢棄運動作為開端，開始了一連串的運動。之後1920年代台灣共產黨的成立，可以證明是從「民族自決」轉換至「民族獨立」的鮮明事件。在民族運動的世界中，是從賴和開始，在1920年代開始活動的台灣青年，另外就是「文化協會」中活動的知識份子。甚至從1930年代開始，以民族運動為舞台，在文學界活動的台灣青年和文化界人士也為數眾多。到了1930年代後期開始，被稱為所謂的「皇民作家」的知識份子，可以說就是面臨這些問題之下，在心中深深痛覺之下所產生的自覺反應吧！目前為止關於台灣「現代性」思考的研究，經常在文學或文化論的範圍內被論及，戰前以台灣思想史所論及的「現代性」幾乎是看不到的。本文是台灣知識份子研究的一環，其中從1937年台灣開始實施「皇民化運動」到1945年敗戰之前的戰爭時期，到底台灣知識份子是如何思考關於「現代性」的問題為主要目的。1930年代在宗主國的日本看到所謂「日本文化回歸」的現象，甚至到了1940年代在廣泛的知識份子群中，非常明顯出現了「超越現代」的思想。與日本「超越現代」的思想是屬於日本精神史的一環，連貫從1930年代開始的「日本文化的回歸」到1940年代「超越現代」思想本質的轉換中，日本所帶給台灣關於「現代性」的思想有如何的關係？換言之，進入戰爭時期在日本帝國「皇民化」的思維中，台灣知識份子是如何思考及面對？也是本稿要找尋的相關點。

At first the “modernity” does not appertain to Eastern countries. Taiwan became a Japanese colony at the point of recognizing “modernity” . Until now the research aspect of “modernity” in Taiwan has always limited to the scope of literature and cultural dispute, while never touched on the thoughts of “modernity” on pre-wartime intellectuals. This paper is a part of research subject on Taiwanese intellectuals under Japanese control era, aimed at the thoughts of Taiwanese intellectuals on “modernity” between the period of 1937 to 1945 the Japan's surrender. In addition, around 1930s, a trend of “ returning of Japanese culture” prevailed across the society of suzerain state Japan. Moreover, the idea of “ overcoming modernity” appeared much plainly by 1940. This paper intend to discuss the issue of relation between the thoughts of “modernity” in wartime Taiwanese intellectuals brought forward by Japanese, the connection of idea of “ overcoming modernity” rose as one of subject of Japanese spiritual history and the process of convert 1930s “ returning of Japanese culture” to 1940s substantial idea of “ overcoming modernity.”
