印度棗‘高雄2號’之育成

Release of New Indian Jujube (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam.) Variety ‘Kaohsiung No.2’

印度棗在產季後期售價較高，因此，育成晚熟印度棗品種推廣種植，有利提高農友收益。為選育優良品種，本試驗利用實生選種法，將所獲得之天然雜交種子培育成實生苗進行觀察選育試驗。初選之晚熟、品質優良、櫥架壽命長之品系，供品系比較試驗。複選之優良品系則進一步於各主產區進行區域試驗。根據區域試驗之結果，選得之優良品系將供命名及推廣用。依本育種試驗方法，選育之KIS-84034優良品系，具有晚熟、豐產、果實大、櫥架壽命長等特性，且無特殊病蟲害，具有調節市場供需之優點，已於民國九十年（2001年）五月完成‘高雄2號’之命名登記。 The fruit price for Indian jujube during the late season was usually high due to the short supply of Indian jujube in the market. Hence, breeding Indian jujube with late maturity characteristics for plantation will be beneficial for increasing the farmers' income. For breeding and selection of superior varieties, the natural crosses have been applied among Indian jujube varieties in this experiment. Hybrid seeds obtained from open-pollinated population have been propagated as seedlings for three-year observations. Lines with late-maturity, high quality, and long fruit shelf life have been selected as materials for line testing. Superior lines selected from line testing were further tested by regional yield trial at major production sites. From the results of regional yield trials, the selected lines were registered as new variety and then for extension. Based on the results of regional yield trials, the selected lines of KIS-84034 with good characteristics of late maturing, high yielding, larger fruit size, longer shelf life, no specific insect pests and diseases, and the potential for marketing regulation has been registered as a new Indian jujube variety – Kaohsiung 2 in May, 2001 for extension purposes.
