《清史》的纂修，自1914年民國政府設立清史館即為時人所關注。從體例的擬定到具體紀、傳、表、志的編纂，館中內外皆多所建議。其中儒林、文苑兩傳，關係一代學術之定評，自繆荃孫重膺其事，與之商議、討論者不乏其人，書信往來絡繹。而時人對於《清史稿》及〈儒林傳〉、〈文苑傳〉編纂的關注，無形中也促進了清史及清學史研究之風的形成、發展。
The compilation of Qingshi 清史 (Qing History) has drawn the attention of people since the establishment of the Qingshi Guan 清史館 in 1914 by the government of the Republic of China. Ranging from the formulation of style to more tangible aspects of compilation, such as annals, biographies, tables, and records 志, a myriad of opinions from both within and outside of the Qingshi Guan have offered suggestions. Among the compiled content, the two biographies of Rulin 儒林 and Wenyuan 文苑 have influenced the evaluations of an entire academic generation. Due to Miao Quansun 繆荃孫 (1844-1919) placing great significance upon them, a number of people incessantly visited or wrote to Miao Quansun to discuss their importance. Furthermore, the formation and development of the study of Qing dynasty academic history has been accelerated owing to the enthusiasm of people towards the compilations of Qingshi gao 清史稿 (Draft Qing History), the “Biography of Rulin” 儒林傳, and the “Biography of Wenyuan” 文苑傳. |
