A Visit to Kota Kinabalu Tidal Station

亞庇潮位站位於東馬來西亞沙巴州，為由馬來西亞「測量製圖局」經營管理。本文所記述為於2018年8月17日下午參訪該站之經過與心得。該潮位站以浮筒式潮位計為主要觀測儀器，輔以壓力式。新近安裝雷達式潮位計於觀測屋外，目前進行測試中。馬來西亞「測量製圖局」在全馬境內維護22個潮位站，並為馬來西亞潮位站潮位數據蒐集、分析、預報之責任單位，每年發佈兩本出版品，分別為潮位觀測記錄、潮位預報表。各潮位站均設置潮位站水準點，並與其他水準點網系相連，以為垂直基準之一部。亞庇潮位站建築良好、穩固，設置有小型衛星地面站（VSAT），將浮筒、壓力潮位計之觀測數據每日一次傳輸至吉隆坡「測量製圖局」總部。 This article documents a visit to Kota Kinabalu Tidal Station on Aug. 17, 2018. This tidal station is located in Sabah, East Malaysia, and operated by the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia. The major tidal observation instrument is a float based tidal gauge. The supplementary instrument is a pressure gauge. Recently, an additional radar gauge has been installed outside the observation building for experimentation purposes. The Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia operates 22 tidal stations in Malaysia and performs analysis and predictions of tide. This agency produces two publications annually, which are the Record of Tidal Observation and the Tide Prediction Tables. Each tidal station has Tidal Gauge Bench Mark installed and connected to the national leveling network, as a part of the vertical geodetic control network. Kota Kinabalu tidal station has a well-built and stable observation building, equipped with VSAT satellite transmission system. The tidal observations collected from the float and pressure sensors are transmitted daily to the main office of the agency in Kuala Lumpur.
