In the government-funded influenza vaccination program for influenza season 2016-2017, as recommended by Influenza Control and Prevention Division and the Immunization Division under the Ministry of Health and Welfare Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee duringthe Influenza Control and Prevention Advisory Meeting, trivalent inactivated influenza vaccines (TIV) were used in tenhigh-risk groups, including the elders aged more than 65 years,adults aged 50 to 64 years,pre-school children aged 6months through 6 years, students aged 7 years through 18 years, residents and staff in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, healthcare and public health personnel, poultry or livestock farmers and animal health inspectors, people with catastrophic illnessand19-49years of agewho have underlyingmedical conditions, and pregnant and 6-months postpartum women.In December2016, the program was expanded to includeall citizens aged 6 months and older. |
