Through the ''Real-time Outbreak and Disease Surveillance (RODS)'' system, 181responsibility hospitals nationwide automatically transfer ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification, Tenth Revision) coded diagnostic information of patients seen on an emergency basis to Taiwan CDC to help early and rapid analysis of irregularities in the prevalence of diseases or syndromes. The RODS system aims to detect early possible outbreak of communicable diseases in the communities, and track the trends and predict the prevalence of diseases.The reportable diseases under RODS included influenza-like illness, enterovirus infection and acute diarrhea in 2007. The reportable diseases in 2008 through 2017include routine surveillance of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis in addition to the reportable items in 2007. |
