In this study, we examined the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of Health Anxiety Questionnaire (C-HAQ), and explored its association with somatoform disorders in DSM-IV, and somatic symptom and related disorders in DSM-5. We found good internal consistency (0.943) and test-retest reliability (0.958) of C-HAQ. Exploratory factor analysis reveals three factors: excessive worry to health and illness, extent to which symptoms interfere with a person's life, and reassurance-seeking behavior. It has moderate correlation with depression, anxiety and somatic constructs. According to the result of ROC curve analysis, C-HAQ has better performance in evaluating DSM-5 somatic symptom and related disorders than in evaluating DSM-IV somatoform disorders. No matter applying which diagnostic system, 17/18 is a proper cutoff for making the diagnosis. |
