臺靜農先生在文藝創作上，雖以小說與散文知名。但是貫穿一生的創作反而是生年未全發表的詩歌寫作。他早歲由新詩入手，反映了對時代黑暗政局的抗爭與受難，也表現了深摯而絕望的戀愛情懷。中年在抗戰的烽火中，創作五七言舊詩，以精簡的語言針貶戰局，描寫流寓的困頓與孤寂，寄情楚騷與梅花，而猛志與稷契心常在，長見獨醒與孤憤心境。戰後來臺，至晚歲重拾詩筆，既反映對故國與知交的眷眷情意，在時局的深刻反省外，亦漸顯圓融智慧而表現為，對宇宙生機的觀照與欣喜。 Although Tai Jing-Nong was a renown short story writer, but he expressed his deep inner feelings and contemplations of the world by his poems through his ninety years long life.
