本研究以順丁烯二酐(maleic anhydride)及丙三醇(glycerol)之混合液(MG)對杉木、紅櫟木及紅柳桉等木材進行酯化之化學改質,探討MG 處理材之機械強度、膠合性及塗裝性。由其結果得知,MG 處理材經180℃、3hr 加熱反應者之硬度較未處理材提高,然較短時間或較低溫度加熱反應之MG 處理材之硬度則較未處理材降低。各不同條件MG 處理材之MOR 均較未處理材降低,其降低程度同時受樹種、WPG值及處理條件所影響。MOE 則依樹種而異,紅櫟木及紅柳桉之MG 處理材MOE 均提高,杉木以180℃ 加熱2hr 及3hr 者MOE 提高,其餘加熱條件則降低。MG 處理材膠合時以RF 膠及Epoxy 膠有較佳之膠合效果,然其常態及耐水膠合強度值均較未處理材降低。MG 處理材以PU 塗料塗裝時,其塗膜具優異之附著性,經乾式及濕式冷熱循環試驗後之附著性均維持最高等級。以NC lacquer 塗裝者之附著性雖較PU 塗裝者低,但其促進劣化試驗前後之附著性均高於未經MG 處理者。 China fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata), red oak (Quercus sp.) and red lauan (Shorea sp.) were chemical modified with the mixture of maleic anhydride(M) and glycerol(G) by esterification. The mechanical strength, adhesion property and coating property of MG treated woods were investigated. As the results, MG treated wood that heated with heating reaction temperature of 180 ℃ and reaction time of three hours had higher hardness than untreated wood, but with shorter heating reaction time or lower reaction temperature had hardness lower than untreated woods. The MOR of MG treated woods were lower than untreated woods, and the degree of decrement was depended simultaneously on wood species, WPG and treatment condition. The variation of MOE of MG treated wood was depended on wood species principally, the MOE of all MG treated woods of red oak and red lauan was increased, China fir MG treated wood that heated with temperature of 180℃ and time of two and three hours was increased too, but the rests were decreased. MG treated wood glued with RF and Epoxy adhesive had better bonding property, but their dry and wet bonding strength were lower than untreated wood. MG treated wood coated with PU had excellent coating-film adhesion, they maintained the highest grade after dry and wet coldand- hot recycle test. Adhesion of coating-film of MG treated wood coated with NC lacquer was worse than with PU, but better than untreated wood after accelerated test.
