1994年至1998年間對關刀溪森林生態系之哺乳動物的調查結果顯示,此森林生態系中計有七目22種的哺乳動物。此些哺乳動物依食性上之不同可分為植食性、食蟲性與食肉性三類,而植食性與食蟲性的哺乳動物又可依其活動與覓食的場所,分為在樹冠層--空中與在地面活動的兩類。此生態系的四種尖鼠,有著不同的分布形式;兩種較常見的食肉目動物間,在分布上亦有所區隔;刺鼠出現的年間差異,或許與殼斗科植物的結實狀況有關,並因而影響到華南鼬的食性,使後者以食蟲目與無脊椎動物為食。關刀溪與福山森林生態系中哺乳動物的組成與數量有別,此差異與其它生態因子間的關連性,有待進一步研究。 A total of 22 species of mammals belonging to seven orders were recorded in the Guandaushi forest ecosystem during the period from 1994 through 1998. These mammals can be divided into three groups according to their feeding habits: plant-eating species (Macaca cyclopis and species of the orders Rodentia and Artiodactyla), insectivorous species (species of the order Insectivora and Chiroptera), and carnivorous species (species of the order Carnivora). The four Soricidae species (Crocidura attenuata, C. kurodai, Chodsigoa sodalis, Soriculus fumidus) and the two Mustelidae species (Mustela sibirica and Melogale moschata) found in this ecosystem have different distribution patterns. The population density of the spiny rats, Niviventer coxingi, was low in the Guandaushi forest ecosystem. However, more rats were captured in the winter following the mast season of Fagaceae trees than in the other seasons. The poor availability of spiny rats might explain the high dietary dependency of Mustela sibirica on shrews and invertebrates.

A total of 22 species of mammals belonging to seven orders were recorded in the Guandaushi forest ecosystem during the period from 1994 through 1998.
