In July 2017, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) received a donation of books from Cheng Chang (張正), founder of Brilliant Time (燦爛時 光), a Southeast Asian bookstore. The books were in a variety of languages, including Vietnamese, Hindi, Thai, Burmese, and Khmer. They have been housed in a new Multicultural Book Section created at the NIA's Taipei Service Center. The section provides visitors to Taiwan with the opportunity to read books written in their mother language; there are also books in Chinese about Southeast Asia that give local Taiwanese the opportunity to better understand the region. |
