This study analyzes the current situation of STEM education development at primary and secondary schools in China and summarizes the main problems including the lack of integrated design which covers different grades, the lack of social-cooperation plans and the lack of high-level teaching groups. We have discussed certain efficient methods from successful STEM education cases at U.S. primary and secondary schools, including the interconnection between high schools and colleges, the supervision performed by the federal government and the cooperation between the inside-school learning and practicing environment and the real world outside. Combining these ideas with the practices at Nanjing Foreign Language School where high school students experience college-level study to reach learning resources beyond high school, college professors bring designed courses to high school to fulfill the need of advanced teaching resources and cooperation between high school and college research projects to innovate the cooperative pattern. The research group has successfully proved an innovative path, where high schools and colleges corporate to integrate STEM. |
