所謂初衷：以敘事法探究接受專業培訓前口譯學生之特質與期望

Before Interpreter Training: Exploring the Characteristics of Interpreting Learners with Narratives

本研究訪談32位處於不同階段(新生、畢業生、新手、資深)口譯員，將口譯員視為學習者，經由敘事研究法匯整其攻讀口譯研究所之前，對於口譯培訓與口譯專業之看法。透過開放式問題訪談，讓口譯員反思過去接受口譯培訓前的認知，針對各自的真實經驗進行表述，最終得知此32名口譯員學習口譯的初衷、進入口譯研究所之前對於口譯培訓的期待，以及培訓前對於口譯專業的看法；還有接受口譯培訓前，成為專業口譯員的先決條件為何。開放式問題使口譯員們能夠反思學習歷程，分享真實經驗。研究者因此能夠透過眾口譯員的個別敘述，匯整出口譯員接受培訓之前，對於口譯培訓與口譯專業的集體看法。本研究結果將有助口譯培訓機構與口譯教師了解口譯學習者的需求與考量。也希望能夠從學習者的角度出發，為口譯培訓提供學生為本的視角，拉近教與學的距離。

This paper investigates first-hand account narratives in a corpus of 32 individual interviews， in which interpreters at different stages of development reflected on how they perceived interpreter training and the interpreting profession before they received their postgraduate degrees in interpreting. The research design of this study perceived interpreters as learners， and the analysis of the narrative accounts demonstrate the characteristics of the interpreting learners before training: from the motivations for learning interpreting， their expectations towards training， their understanding of the interpreting profession， and their understanding of the prerequisites for an interpreter. The narratives generated from open-ended interviews were genuine， meaning-generating， and have the capacity to turn personal issues into public concerns so as to provide better understanding for training institutions or for trainers to get to know the interpreting learners in advance， as well as to inform interpreting pedagogy in the long run.
