Through the “Real-time Outbreak and Disease Surveillance System, (RODS)” more than 170 responsibility hospitals nationwide automatically transfer ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification, Ninth Revision) coded diagnostic information of patients seen on an emergency basis to Taiwan CDC to help early and rapid analysis of irregularities in the prevalence of diseases or syndromes.In 2006, the active surveillance system was consolidated into the symptom surveillance system to boost the capacity for prevention and control of imported diseases and improve the convenience and accessibility of the system so as to achieve the goals. |
