The aim of this study was to explore the signal of the meridian and acupoints through measuring the partial fall of bioenergy in Diabetes mellitus (DM) with electrodermal screening device(ESD). In addition , we would evaluate the relationship between san jiao and endocrine. Material and methods: single blind , age and sex matched case-control study of DM and health volunteers with blood sugar test and ESD. Results:Each 44 DM and volunteers(women 17/men 27)with the ages ranged from 35-75 years old were included. We found the measuring value in the second quadrant of the diabetic patients were lower than in the control group . Its 95 % confidence interval of odds ratio was (0.935, 0.995) . The partial falling value of the former were larger than the latter . They showed the statistical significant differences of odds ratio in the 10 acupoints of bilateral sanjiao , small intestine , stomach , left circulation , spleen , liver , and right large intestine. Based on cutpoint 5 of partial falling value on left sanjiao (Chisquare 8.727 , misclassification rate 0.364) , P value of agreement test between electrodermal screening and blood sugar test is 0.0016 .Discussion: ESD could detect the message of acupoints through the biophysical view. DM consumed the energy of the patients , leading to the abnormality of blood and polarization of acupoints related to the complication of DM or disease itself. In addition , the results of this study supported the argument about sanjiao system of traditional Chinese medicine would be the equivalent for the endocrine system of modern western medicine. |
