Minimally invasive surgery has been adopted widely with gynecologic malignancyand is increasingly used in advanced surgical staging procedures forboth endometrial and cervical cancer. After review, all the studies have describedsame-day discharge after minimally invasive hysterectomy for gynecologicmalignancy to be safe and feasible. In addition, there are low complicationrates and few readmissions or unscheduled patient contacts within 30 days ofoperation. However, some factors were associated with a decreased possibilityof same-day discharge including older age, long duration of operation, highestimated blood loss, and completing surgery later than 6:00 pm. Preoperativeappropriate patient selection amd operating room scheduling can increasesuccessful same-day discharge. |
