Project of Environmental Noiselessness Improvement for Medical Wards of a Medical Center

安寧是醫療環境中非常重要的一環，過高的音量會使病人無法得到安靜的休息環境及醫護人員工作效率降低。本單位於2011 年至2013 年護理部病房環境安寧滿意度調查結果，和全院24 個單位相較之下，本單位最差名次為倒數第二名。分析原因為：一、缺乏適宜傳遞訊息的方法；二、缺乏噪音控管的宣導；三、儀器設備老舊及設定不當；四、缺少環境噪音管制措施，因此制訂改善措施：電腦系統訊息傳達、櫃子、抽屜黏貼吸音泡棉、於換藥車上舖設防震軟墊等。經專案改善後，噪音音量平均降低至67.1 分貝以下，且病人對環境安寧之滿意度由62.5% 提升至95.0%，護理人員方面由34.2% 提升至63.1%，有效改善病房安寧程度及提升照護服務品質。

Sound control is very important in healthcare settings. High sound levels prevent patients from gettingthe rest and affect staff effectiveness. According to an in-house investigation of noise conducted from2011 to 2013, comparing to 24 units in the same hospital, the worst record of the internal medicine unitranked second to the last. The causes of noise were: (1) lack of adequate ways of delivering messages;(2) lack of noise control education; (3) old medical devices and improper alarm settings; (4) lack of noisecontrol measures. We developed measures to improve environmental noise, including use of computerizedhospital information systems and application of sound absorption materials on doors, drawers, and in themedicine carts. The strategies effectively reduce the level of noise to below 67.1 dB. Patients’ satisfactionof environmental noiselessness increased from 62.5% to 95.0%, while nurses’ satisfaction increased from34.2% to 63.1% and the improved satisfaction with ward noise level reached more than 20%, significantlyimproving the quality of care.
