Predictive Methods and Formula of Class III Mandibular Growth Potential – A Review Article

三級異常咬合在東方人身上是很常見的，且對矯正醫師而言是一個挑戰。有些病患在接受早期矯正治療來改正顎骨的不良位置後，在生長高峰期時會因上、下顎骨生長量的差異，而要重新治療。本篇以文獻回顧的方式探討三級異常咬合的顱顏生長，和幾種預測三級異常咬合的方法及公式，以幫助臨床醫師決定是否要在生長發育期中使用掩飾性矯正治療，或者是等到其生長發育完全後再使用正顎手術治療。

Class III malocclusion is common in Asian population and is a major challenge in orthodontic treatment. Some patients received orthopedic treatment to correct the skeletal disharmony in an earlier stage might have to be retreated later because of differential skeletal growth of the maxilla and mandible during the pubertal growth spurt. This article reviews some literature and discusses the craniofacial growth in Class III malocclusion. The methods and formula to predict future Class III growth pattern are also reviewed. This will help clinicians to decide whether to start camouflage treatment during the growth period or wait until completion of growth for orthognathic surgery treatment.
