GSM 相互鑑別機制之研究

A Study of a Mutual Authentication Scheme for GSM

因為GSM 網路業者間簽訂的漫遊協議，所以即使我們到其他國家旅遊時仍然可以使用原本的手機門號，但是檢視現行GSM 系統的鑑別機制，我們可以發現存在MS 與VLR 間無法相互鑑別、增加HLR 與VLR 間傳遞鑑別資訊的通訊頻寬負擔及VLR 額外儲存負擔等三項缺點，針對上述的現行GSM 鑑別缺失，雖已有學者提出相關研究的改進方法，但是均僅限於解決上述的部份問題或是需要改變現行GSM 架構。本論文在不改變現行GSM 系統架構下，將提出一個有效率且能夠同時解決上述三項缺點的GSM 相互鑑別機制。

Since many GSM network operators have roaming agreements withforeign operators, users can often continue to use their mobile phones whenthey travel to other countries. There are several drawbacks found in existingauthentication protocols of GSM, such as the fact that VLR cannot beauthenticated, unbalanced communication bandwidth consumption betweenVLR and HLR, and storage overhead in VLR. Recently, many authenticationprotocols have been proposed to solve those drawbacks of the existingGSM authentication protocols, but they cannot alleviate all drawbackswithout altering the GSM architecture. In this paper, we propose a novelmutual authentication protocol to solve all of the above problems withoutchanging the existing GSM architecture.
