The author (formal Chief Engineer, Mr. Hsu) is a well-respected senior engineer in Taiwan, especially in the harbor and coastal engineering disciplines. The writer still remembers some very useful advisors he had received from the author while he was a student in Taiwan. The author’s idea on changing the cross section of the existed breakwater to reduce wave reflection, and thus, the long wave resonance in Hualien Harbor, however, may not be a good deliberation. For this reason, the writer would like to point out the reason, and suggestions on how to possibly solve the problem. |
