This article described a nursing experience for facial scarring and scar treatment by Erbium YAG Laser of a youngadultwho underwent radical dissection and skin graft surgery for oral cancer. The patient was admitted alone to theAesthetic Medical Center alonefromNovember 4, 2013 to January 23, 2014. During the nursing period, we collecteddata according to Gordon’s 11-itemed functional health patterns by observation, listening and interviews with thepatient. As a result,the patient’s main health concerns include potential wound infection, anxiety and body imagedisorder. During the interview process, we supported him emotionally, encouraged him to express any emotionaldistress, and developed a trustful relationship with the patient. We provided the patient with laser treatment brochure,sample after-treatment photos, and educated the patient in detail of the process of the treatment and offeredrelatedcareto alleviate any anxiety and pain that the patient might experience. |
