The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among motivation of studying, intention to enter higher education and career planning for the student-athletes studying in public high school and higher vocational school athletic program in Ping-Tung County. Participants of this study were the students of high school and higher vocational school athletic program enrolled in 2017. The data was collected by questionnaire survey distributed with 317 questionnaires, 296 of which were retrieved valid responses corresponding with 93% return rate. This study utilized the SPSS 17.0 software package to analyze the descriptive statistics and to explore the sample distribution of the analysis of the background variables of the subjects, such as gender, grade, exercise expertise and exercise experiences, moreover, the frequency distribution and the distributions of average and percentage were also explored. The results were summarized as follows through SEM (Structural Equation Modelling): 1. Students’ study motivation has significant positive effect on their intention to enter higher education. 2. Students’ study motivation has no significant effect on their career planning. 3. Students’ intention to enter higher education has significant positive effect on career planning. According to the result and discussion of this study, some suggestions were advanced by this study: 1. Enhancing courses of the professional knowledge in order to increase students’ learning motivation and training effect. 2. Providing abundant learning resources to supply students’ academic ability after training. 3. Hiring full-time coach who is certificated to train students in more professional and scientific ways, to enhance students’ strength of competition and their intention to enter higher education in the future. 4. Offering guidance curriculum of vocational exploration for students to realize the importance of career planning that may help the further career planning has various development. |
