The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between participation motive and social support of the long distance runners. The objectives of this study were the members of 2009 Taiwan Big Foot Long Distance Running Association. Total 420 effective copies of questionnaire were obtained. The collected data were operated with descriptive statistical handling, test for difference among the means, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation, three items of results were concluded as followed: 1.The participation motive of female long distance runners were better than male counter partners, especially elder runners, and the amateur runners were stronger in participation motive. 2.Female long distance runners got better social support, especially elder runners, middle school educated runners, and the amateur runners were obtained better social support. 3.The stronger participation motive the long distance runners had, the better social support they were obtained. Especially, the better achievement requirement of the runners, the better they were obtained friends support among others. |
