Previous studies of information technology (IT)-enabled organizational change have focused on the effects of an organization’s devices on organizational change and not on the effects of personal devices. In this study, we examined how the bring your own device (BYOD) phenomenon influences the process of organizational change . The results showed that the introduction of personal devices in the workplace facilitated change in an integrated physical and virtual organizational model and the adoption of BYOD-facilitated change in an integrated resources organizational model. In conclusion, we believe that if organizations do not adopt people-oriented guidelines in the process of IT-enabled organizational change, they can easily become caught in Procrustean circumstances. |
