打開中國史書，其中〈天文志〉、〈五行志〉及〈符瑞志〉、〈祥瑞志〉、〈靈徵志〉記載為量頗豐的災異、祥瑞現象，事實上，遠自《尚書》開始，降至《公羊》、《左傳》、《史記》一路開展下來的史書，即不斷地記載災異、祥瑞變化的內容，有天象之日月蝕、雲氣怪變現象；有自然之水澇之災、旱災、蟲災、雪災等；有生物之異常生長變化、有人為之服飾變怪，甚至履神跡感孕，夢攀天梯而孕等等，這些怪異書寫示現什麼意蘊？透示什麼文化意義呢？六朝是一個極其動盪不安的時代，其直視時代的災異變化，如何面對與書寫？從六朝志怪當中，我們體察作者意圖透過歷史災異現象來對治當世之亂象與變局，藉由歷史來鑑往知來，而其所欲豁顯的文化意蘊是什麼？頗值得探究，本文擬從六朝志怪的災異書寫來探勘六朝人所示現的人文心靈。
