Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is the one of the most commonly used molecular imaging techniques in gynecological cancer diagnosis, staging and recurrence detection. Some parameters are used as diagnostic criteria for PET/CT to increase the accuracy of detecting malignancy. The most typical diagnostic criterion parameter is the maximim standardized uptake value (SUVmax). Recently, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG) and even intratumoral 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake heterogeneity (IFH) have become significent parameters as prognostic factors for ovarian cancer. Whole-body PET/CT is useful for assessment of recurrence of ovarian cancer in the presence of symptom. |
