Recently, positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is popularly used for endometrial cancer. In general, the examination of PET is simply interpreted visually by looking for areas of focally increased uptake. In addition, CT scan aids in anatomic localization. Whole-body PET/CT is found very useful for initial staging, post-therapy surveillance and detection of recurrent lesions in endometrial cancer. In addition, PET/CT imaging can be used in selecting candidates for avoiding lymphadenectomy for patients with a low risk of aggressive disease. |
