Acta Anaesthesiologica with its preceding title as 'Ma Tsui Hsueh Tsa Chi', the foremost quarterly medical journal related to the specialty of anesthesia in Taiwan was first published in January 1, 1961. Its establishment not only provided a space for anesthetic workers to express their ideas, opinions and exchange their experience, but also promoted the academic development of anesthesia in Taiwan. It was unfortunate that the publication was subjected to a stop in 1972, principally because of financial difficulty and shortage of contributions. Thereafter in 1975, its publication was resumed and it was renamed as 'Acta Anaesthesiologica Sinica'. After resurrection, its publication was quite irregular, but in Volume 14, No 2, a feature article entitled 'Cardiovascular Diseases and Medicine' was published as a gift to congratulate the 20th anniversary of the Society. Since then with the devotion of our forerunners the publication became regular and the journal joined the examination for rewards and scrutinization for type A academic magazines of applied science, sponsored by the Education Department. |
