Objectives. To find the possible interpersonal issues of depressive patients with suicidal attempts in Taiwan. Methods. Using semi-structured interviews and qualitative analysis of the transcripts, we identified the interpersonal patterns and feelings of depressed individuals with suicidal attempts. Results. Their interpersonal patterns were found to be “undifferentiated self with seniors”, “lowered self with peers”, and “anxious self with juniors”. The key interpersonal feeling associated with suicidal attempts was “self abrasion under entangled interpersonal difficulties”. Conclusion. Overall, the interpersonal pattern was “low positional, high focused interaction”. However, behind the decision of “self abrasion under entangled interpersonal ties” was “a trapped self in the fantasy of interpersonal relationships.” |
