Diabetic foot ulcers not only affect the life of the patient but also present a great challenge to healthcare professionals as they seek to achieve the optimal outcome in the treatment and preserve the function of the affected limb. Based on the evidence to date, many studies have demonstrated that applying negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to the diabetic foot ulcers can facilitate granulation and fluid evacuation. NPWT has been found to also reduce bacterial bioburden and amputation rates. Herein, we report a case involving a 66-year-old man with complex diabetic foot ulcers successfully treated using NPWT following debridement. |
