Objectives. An educational video demonstrating an exemplary obstetric clinical operation was shown in a class in 'interdisciplinary collaborative care education (ICCE)' also known as 'interprofessional education.' ICCE is a current critical topic of continuing medical education. The course focuses the basic concept of strategies and tools of leadership, communication, situation monitoring, and mutual support, all topics difficult to understand through oral lectures alone. An evaluation of the reactions of the learners were evaluated to assess the effectiveness of this video-assisted course. Methods. All medical students serving as residents in our hospital were required to attend a course in 'team resource management and interdisciplinary collaborative care,' which would be taught with the aid of a teaching-assisted video starting September 2011. At the end of course, 60 of those medical students were selected to answer a questionnaire that contained six question items including five structure questions based on Likert scale and one open question. Results. The video presentations were found to be valuable in both the structured questions and the open question. Conclusion. Student' understanding of the importance of 'the interdisciplinary collaborative care' and familiarity with the basic concept of the strategies and tools can be effectively achieved through this video assisted teaching program. We concluded that this approach can be used in the future to impart knowledge in 'the interprofessional education.' |
