Wu He is an important novelist in Taiwan currently. His works are rich in the spirit of the ”experiment” and ”differences”. Among his works, the Remains of Life deals with the Wu-She incident in Taiwan history, the aborigines resisting the Japanese oppressions. The skill is mature, rated as the representative of his novels style. Feeling anxious about the former novels of the same subject, Wu He overturns the traditional narration, laying great emphasis on the Wu-She incident disputes, adopting the esthetics of ”disorder” and expressing his distress, deliberations and judgments. The Remains of Life not only inquires into the life of Tayal tribe after the calamity, but also records a process of Wu He's daily life and the quest for the meaning of life. The whole writings, from contents to forms, corresponds with a kind of rebelling similar with his temperament, demonstrating his understanding and answering about the writing and life, after a long time Wu He thinks about them.
