As the elderly population in Taiwan is gradually increasing, the overseas travel market for older age groups is also expanding, and it is now an important target for the tourism industry. Therefore, this study targeted older individuals as research subjects, and explored the influence of their’s population property, overseas travel constraints, and constraint negotiation strategies on their participation in overseas travel. This study selected individuals aged above 50 years living in New Taipei City area to participate in a questionnaire survey and obtained 319 valid responses. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS through descriptive statistics, reliability and validity tests, Pearson product-moment correlation, Spearman rank correlation, and an ordered logit model. As regards the number of participations in overseas travel among this age group, the study results show that leisure constraints and “behavior modification strategy” of constraint negotiation strategies had significant negative influences overseas travel participation frequency. The probability of male and retirees to participate in overseas travel are higher.The study hope also provides academic and practical recommendations for domestic travel-related industries, the government, and academia, in order to effectively improve the current extent of participation in overseas travel among older age groups. |
