The study aims to understand the relations among leisure motivation, leisure constraints and leisure benefits of pet dog breeders. The research conducted random survey to breeders with pet dogs, and a total of 266 usable samples were collected. Results indicated that respondents were mostly single and worked in service industry with average age of 28.63. The majority of respondents lived with their families. There were significant differences between single and married respondents with the major factors of “can be self-fulfilling” and “can strengthen the sense of responsibilities” in category of leisure motivation (M=4.20). Results also showed that respondents with less than one year’s breeding experience seemed to have significant relations to leisure constraints of raising pet dogs; the biggest leisure constraints was intrapersonal, such as sense of pet dependence and fearing of leaving pets. In terms of leisure benefits, the psychological benefits were the highest, which might make respondents in good moods and have more fun in their lives. In addition, results indicated that there were positive relations between respondents’ leisure motivation and their leisure benefits, while there were negative relations between leisure motivation and leisure constraints. |
