About the safety needles

醫療工作人員的職業災害種類很多，而針扎事件是其中最常見的，受針扎的工作人員若沒有適當的抗體保護，極易造成感染病毒性肝炎、梅毒及人類免疫缺陷病毒的風險，後續的檢驗及治療更會是一筆可觀的費用。有鑑於此，歐美國家早在十年前即開始推動安全針具的計畫，我國也在2011年度醫院感染管制查核作業項次6.2基準內容及「醫院評鑑基準及評量項目」中條號2.7.5已明確將「安全針具」納入評分項目，加上我國醫療法56及101條的修訂，規定自2012年起五年內醫療機構須全面提供安全針具，更是積極推動此項福利政策來確保工作人員的安全。

Healthcare workers (HCWs) face many types of occupational hazards, and needle-stick injury is one of the most common hazards. HCWs injured by the needle are very vulnerable to the risk of syphilis and infections by hepatitis B and C viruses and human immunodeficiency virus. The following assessment and treatment will involve a considerable cost. In view of this, the United States and Europe began promoting the use of safety needles a decade ago. Since 2011, the use of safety needles has been requested for checking the hospital’s infection control and hospital accreditation in Taiwan. Furthermore, the government medical law has declared the provision and implementation of the safety needles at all health care units by 2017. The purpose of this implementation is to actively promote the welfare policy to ensure the safety of HCWs.
