最遙遠的鄰國？三十年來台灣對菲律賓的受難新聞建構（1986-2016）

The Most Distant Neighboring Country: Taiwanese News Construction of Philippine Suffering over the Past Three Decades (1986-2016)

本文採取遠端受難的中介理論取徑，研究探討台灣新聞如何再現 菲律賓過去 30 年來的風災事件（1986-2016）。研究發現，台灣新聞 多採取負面論述來呈現菲律賓的受難。研究結果顯示出，台灣新聞作 為一個社會關係的中介，不僅建構了菲律賓的負面刻板印象，同時也 使菲律賓處在低劣的國家地位。這個發現，進一步幫助研究者最後提 出一個論點，也就是台灣有關菲律賓的災難新聞論述，建構了台灣與 菲律賓的不親近關係。

Using the theoretical frame of Mediated Suffering, this study investigates how the Taiwanese news represents Philippine suffering over the past three decades (1986-2016). The research found that Taiwanese news usually represented Philippine suffering negatively. The results indicate that Taiwanese news as a mediation of social relations not only constructed negative stereotypes of the Philippines but located it in a disadvantaged national status. The discovery would help the researcher to make an argument that disaster news discourses were created to constitute the “not close relationship” between Taiwan and the Philippines.
