周法高先生在聲韻學上的成就與貢獻

Achievements and Contributions in Chinese Phonology of Professor Chou Fa-Kao

周法高先生在語言學方面，涉獵較廣，提出許多具有啟發性的意見。本文專就聲韻學領域，對周先生的研究概況、重要論點、學說特色、對後人的影響諸方面，作一介紹和論述。分為下面幾個部分：周法高先生的上古音研究：這部分重要的論文包括〈論上古音和切韻音〉，《香港中文大學中國文化研究所學報》第 3 卷第 2 期，1970 年。《周法高上古音韻表》，臺北：三民書局經銷，1973 年。〈上古漢語和漢藏語〉，《香港中文大學中國文化研究所學報》，第 5 卷民國 61 年 12 月。〈論上古音〉，《香港中文大學中國文化研究所學報》，第 2 卷第 1 期，民國 58 年 9 月。周法高先生的複聲母研究：周法高先生〈論上古音和切韻音〉一文，專節討論了複聲母，認為可以解決許多形聲字諧聲的問題。也作了音值上的擬定。對複聲母研究的開拓，具有里程碑的意義。周法高先生的中古音研究：這部分重要的論文包括〈廣韻重紐的研究〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》，第 13 本，民國 37年 9 月。〈切韻魚虞之音讀及其流變〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》第 13 本，民國 37 年 9 月。〈說平仄〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》，第 13 本，民國 37 年 9 月。〈三等重脣音反切上字研究〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》，第 23 本（下），民國 41 年 7 月。〈讀切韻研究〉，《大陸雜誌》，第 69 卷第 2 期，民國 73 年 8 月。〈讀韻鏡研究〉，《大陸雜誌》，第 69 卷第 3 期，民國 73 年 9 月。〈論切韻音〉，《香港中文大學中國文化研究所學報》，第 1 卷第 1 期，民國 57 年 9 月。〈古音中的三等韻兼論古音的寫法〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》，第 19 期，民國37 年 10 月。〈論古代漢語的音位〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》，第 25 本，民國 43 年 6 月。中古音一項重要的討論是全濁音聲母是否送氣的問題，周法高說：「關於全濁音聲母是否送氣的問題，陸志韋、李榮對高本漢的送氣說有所批評，這在辨義方面來說，是無關重要的。」（「論上古音和切韻音」）這一點，給學術界的啟發很大。周法高先生的重紐研究：周法高作《廣韻重紐的研究》指出，對於《玄應一切經音義》反切系聯的結果表明，在此書中同樣存在重紐的分別，並且是主要元音的分別。周氏另有《三等韻重唇音反切上字研究》（1952）一文指出，除《廣韻》以外，《切韻》、《經典釋文》、《玄應音義》、《慧琳音義》等書中的唇音反切上字也有重紐的區別。這又是周先生的重要發現。周法高先生的佛經語言學研究：這部分重要的論文包括《玄應反切考》，臺北：中央研究院歷史語言研究所，民國 33 年 8 月。〈梵文 ḍ ṭ 的對音〉，《中央研究院歷史語言研究所集刊》第14 期，民國 37 年 6 月。〈從玄應音義考察唐初的語音〉，《學原》第 2 卷第 3 期，民國 37 年 7 月。〈玄應反切再論〉，《大陸雜誌》，第 69 卷第 5期，民國 73 年 11 月。

Professor Chou Fa-Kao is a famous linguist in the world. His study on Chinese linguistics is very extensive, and he proposed lots of opinions that enlightened academia. In this article, we introduce and discuss Chou Fa-Kao's studies, especially on the historical Chinese phonology, and the characteristics of his linguistic theories, and his influence to the posterity.This article consists of the following parts:1. Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study on the archaic Chinese. 2. Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study on consonant clusters. It is a milestone in the study of this area. 3. Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study on the middle Chinese. For a long period, one of the problems in middle Chinese is about whether that if the voiced consonants are aspirated. Chou Fa-Kao indicated that, ＂Regarding the question that if the voiced consonants are aspirated, it is insignificant in discrimination of their meanings.＂ What Chou Fa-Kao pointed out gives enlightenment to academic circles.4. Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study on chongniu: According to the fanqie xilian of Xuanying's “Yiqie Jing Yinyi＂, he indicated that there was the distinction of chongniu in this document. Moreover, the distinction of two categories of chongniu words focuses on the main vowels in syllables. Furthermore, the other significant findings of Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study are that besides in the book “Guangyun＂, the distinction of chongniu in fanqie of the labial sounds existed also in books such as “Qieyun＂“, Jingdian Shiwen＂,“Xuanying Yinyi＂ and “Xuilin Yinyi＂. 5.In the last paragraph, we will introduce Professor Chou Fa-Kao's study on linguistics of the Chinese Buddhist texts.
