case and indicate the boundedness of an event. In Korean, duration and frequency adverbials may show accusative or nominative case, with no apparent difference in their temporal or aspectual semantic contribution. We first discuss two main factors influencing case on adverbials, the animacy of the subject and the semantic properties of the predicate involved. We then show that in addition to these two factors, case assignment is also influenced by how the speaker presents an event ─as involving an entity participating in an action, or as a holistic event. |
