Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) has been regarded as one of important issues in special education research and practice in Taiwan. However, there is a lack of framework of outcomes measurement for AAC intervention. This paper proposed a framework based on the concept of communication competence. Two dimensions of framework were described. One was outcomes for AAC learning, which focused on symbol and device learning; another was outcomes for AAC use, which emphasized the effect of using AAC for interaction. |
