Professional Development of University Faculty: Taiwan Experience

本文旨在探討提升大學教師的專業發展。眾所周知，沒有好的教師，不會有好的教育，由於教師專業的品質提高，教育才會有所進步。全文首先說明大學教師的職責；其次，探究轉變中的大學教育及其所面臨的危機；再其次，析述大學教師專業發展的由來及其辦理的情形；最後檢討大學教師專業發展並提出改進意見。

This paper aims at reviewing professional development of university faculty in four parts. The first part explains the duty and obligation of university faculty. Part Two provides analyses of current change and crises of university. The third part explores origin of teacher professional development and practices. Finally， professional development of university faculty is examined， followed by suggestion for improvement.
