The CCS held the Global Chinese Studies Series. Ph.D. candidate, Araki Tatsuo from the University of Tokyo, Department of Chinese Language and Literature was invited to speak on “A Look at Edition Issues of Outlaws of the Marsh from the Perspective of the Southern China’s Publishing Industry during the Late Ming and Early Qing Period.” He has done extensive textual analysis on the historical background of this issue, comparing the content of editions from the National Library of China in Beijing with other editions. His primary concern is to determine whether or not the Beijing version is a Qing imitation of earlier Ming versions. |
